| J. W. Davis, physician and surgeon; son
of Jesse L. and Vienna T. Davis; was born in Indiana in
1837; when he was 10 years of age his parents removed to
Washington, D. C., where he grew to manhood. He attended
the Georgetown University, and graduated in the class of
'60. The following year he enlisted in the United States
Army, as surgeon for the 6th Ind. Regiment, the first
regiment enrolled for the rebellion of '61. He served
until 1864, when he came to Lansing, Iowa, and has since
been engaged in the practice of his profession. pg 484 |
