| John Engelhorn |
| John Engelhorn was
born in Baden, Germany, in 1882 [?]. His early life was
spent in the leading cities of Germany, employed as a
carpenter and millwright. In 1852 he came to America,
landing in New Orleans. In June of the same year he
settled on his present farm, where he erected a house
with poles, brush and a small amount of lumber. In 1854
he married Annie Bartell, of Winneshiek County. They have
one son, Prof. H. T. Engelhorn, now the proprietor of two
different business colleges in Montana Territory. pg 489 note: He was
born December 30, 1822 in Altlussheim, Baden, Germany
& married Anna Eva Barthel on March 01, 1854 in
