Know all Men By These Presents:
That whereas, the following described real property, viz:
Harpers Ferry Lots. Nos. (131) One Hundred Thirty one and (132)
One Hundred Thirty two situated in the County of Allamakee and
State of Iowa, was subject to taxation for the year AD, 1872 to
1893 Inclusive, and whereas, the taxes assessed upon said real
property, for the years aforesaid, remained due and unpaid at the
date of the sale hereinafter named, and whereas, the Treasurer of
said county did, on the 5th day of Feb. AD, 1894 by virtue of the
authority in him vested by law, at the adjourned sale begun and
publicly held on the first Monday of December AD, 1893 expose to
public sale at the office of the County Treasurer, in the county
aforesaid, in substantial conformity with all the requisitions of
the statute in such cases made and provided, the real property
above described, for the payment of the taxes, interest and costs
then due and remaining unpaid on said property; and whereas, at
the time and place aforesaid, Mrs. Catherine Rafter of the County
of Allamakee and State of Iowa having offered to pay the sum of -
dollars and Eighty Five cents, being the highest bid of the whole
amount of taxes, interest and costs then due and remaining unpaid
on said property, for All of the above described real estate
which was the least quantity bid for; and payment of said sum
having been by her made to the said Treasurer, the said prperty
was stricken off to her at that price.
This deed is made in accordance with the Supreme Court decisions
see Iowa Reports No 53 Page 683 and whereas, three years have
elapsed since the date of said sale, and said property has not
been redeemed therefrom as provided for by law.
Now, therefore, I Geo. J. Helming Treasurer of the county
aforesaid, for and in consideration of the said sum to the
Treasurer paid as aforesaid, and by virtue of the statute in such
case made and provided, have granted, bargained and sold, and by
these presents do grant, bargain and hereinbefore described, to
have and to hold unto her the said Mrs. Catherine Rafter her
heirs and assigns forever; subject however, to all the rights of
redemption provided by law.
In Witness Whereof, I Geo. J. Helming Treasurer of aforesaid, by
virtue of the authority aforesaid, have hereunto subscribed my
name on this 26th day of April 1897

I hereby certify, That before me a Notary Public in and for said
county, personally appeared the above named Geo. J Helming
Treasurer of said county, personally known to me to be the
Treasurer of said county at the date of the execution of the
above conveyance, and to be the identical person whose name is
affixed to and who executed the above conveyance as Treasurer of
said county, and acknowledged the execution of the same to be his
voluntary act and deed as Treasurer of said county, for the
purpose therein expressed
