| WAGNER - BURKE | A pretty wedding was solemnized Monday morning at the Immaculate Conception church in Lansing, when Miss Mary Burke, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Burke of Lansing, was united in Marriage to Carl Wagner, son of Mrs. Henry Wagner of Lansing. the Reverend G. L. Haxmeier officiated at the ceremony which was followed by a nuptial mass. The attendants were Miss Kathryn Burke, sister of the bride, and Leo Wagner, brother of the groom. The bride was attired in a black suit with accessories to match.. She wore a white gardenia and carried a pearl rosary, a gift of the groom. The bride's maid wore an aqua blue gown with contrasting accssories. The bride is a graduate of Immaculate Conception School and attended Bayless Business College in LaCrosse. Mr. Wagner has for many years been the rural mail carrier out of Lansing. Following the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride's parents, to immediate relatives and friends. The couple are enjoying a wedding trip in northern Minnesota and Wisconsin after which they will make their home in Lansing. | WATERS - LOWER | Waters-Lower Brilliant
Social Event in Frankville Township [Winneshiek co.] A beautiful wedding occurred last Wednesday evening, Oct. 13, 1897, at the pleasant home of Mr. and Mrs. L. K. Lower, near Frankvile, Iowa, in the presence of about 80 relatives and friends, Mr. J. Wallace Waters and Miss Emma J. Lower were united in the holy bonds of wedlock, Rev. J. S. Phillips, pastor of the Presbyterian church officiating. The large parlors, which were crowded with invited guests, presented a picture of life on its bettor side when promptly at eight o'clock Miss Kate Waters, a sister of the groom, began to play the sweet strains of a wedding march, a corner door opened and the officiating clergyman led the happy couple to the opposite corner of the room which was beautifully trimmed with white lace where they stood during the brief but impressive ceremony. The bride was dressed in a beautiful rose colored costume, the groom wore conventional black. After the ceremony an elegant supper, was served and the evening was spent in offering congratulations to the newly wedded couple. and a good social time enjoyed by all present generally. These young people are well and favorably known to all in this community. Energy and good health constitute the best capital for such an enterprise. Both have these and we expect them to succeed. officiating. This is all the notice that was furnished
us. and as we were not at the wedding we are unable to
write it up. We have known the bride since infancy and.
the groom for a number years and our knowledge of both is
pleasurable and satisfactory and we have no doubt, but
our hopes for their prosperity and happiness will be
realized. They took the afternoon Burlington for a
wedding tour which includes Salt Lake City, the National
Park and other points of interest in the west, after
which they will return and take up their residence in the
August Meier house, May much joy be theirs. Thanks for

| WATERS - SCHULTZ | A very pretty wedding ceremony was solemnized in St. Peter's Catholic Church at Clermont at eight o'clock Wednesday morning, uniting in marriage Miss Milda Schultz and Leonard Waters both of Postville, Rev. Father J. J. Hehir, pastor of the groom officiating. As the bride and groom entered unattended, Mendelssohn's wedding march was rendered by Miss Elizabeth Sullivan. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Schultz, a graduate of Postville high school. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R.B. Waters and has been farming since finishing his education. After the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served to the bridal party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Kneeland. | WEBB - WEBSTER | It became known for a certainty last week that one of our prominent young couples, Herman Webb and Miss Lucy Webster, were Mr. and Mrs. Webb in reality, they having been married on Nov. 2nd last by Rev. Childress over in Clayton county, but they had kept their little affair in a secret locker until this time, although there have been some pretty well grounded suspicions all this time that they were matrimonially entwined. | WESSELS - SCHULTE | St. Mary's Church in
Dorchester was the pretty setting for the June 1 wedding
of Theresa M. Schulte, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe
Schulte, Dorchester and Ronald A. Wessels, son of Mr. and
Mrs. LaVern Wessels, Farmersburg. The Rev. D.
O'Brien read the double ring marriage service and said
the nuptial mass at 10:30 a.m. before basket arrangements
of bridal wreath. Rose Schulte and Leonardas Schulte
provided the nuptial music. Mass servers were Jerry
Schulte, brother of the bride and Dennis Mahr. The bride
was given in marriage by her father, she having chosen a
wedding gown of A-line empire design of Sorrento linen
peau fashioned with wrist-length bell sleeves and a
detachable train. Both dress and train were trimmed with
wide venise lace of a floral motif. A cluster of petals
edged with pearls held her shoulder-length veil. She
carried a cascade arrangement of red sweetheart roses and
lily of the valley. Maid of honor was Barbara Schulte,
Dorchester, sister of the bride. Bridesmaid was Elizabeth
Michelson, West Salem, Wisconsin, friend of the bride and
flower girl was Sheila Schulte, Dorchester, sister of the
bride. Their gowns were of mint green Sorrento linen peau
in an Aline empire style with elbow length bell sleeves
and detachable panels. They wore matching headpieces and
the bridesmaids carried bouquets of pink and yellow
carnations while the flower girl carried a white lace bas
ket of frenched pink & yellow carnations and lily of
the valley. Wayne Wessels, Waterloo, and Gene Henderson,
Cedar Rapids, brother and friend of the groom, were his
attendants. The guests were seated by Ron Schulte, Iowa
City and John Klinge, Farmersburg, brother of the bride
and friend of the groom, respectively. The bride's mother
chose a pink dress with matching hat and white
accessories. The groom's mother wore a dress of aqua blue
with white accessories and each had a corsage of pink
roses and white carnations. A dinner reception for over
200 guests was held at the Veterans Hall at Waukon,
following the ceremony. Sharon Schulte attended the guest
book. Ann Himsel, Kathy Ford and Jan Dreher poured punch.
Dining room hostesses were Rosie Schulte and Kathryn
Schulte. Rita Schulte and Monica Schulte, aunts of the
bride, cut and served the cake. Lorna Felten and LaVonne
Erding were in charge of the gifts. Waitresses were
Diane, Debbie, Gwen, Ella Mae, Rita, Bonna, Anita and
Connie Schulte, all cousins of the bride. Alice
Schwartzhoff was in charge of flowers at the wedding.
Mrs. Wessels is a senior at W.S.U., Platteville,
Wisconsin and her husband is a recent graduate of that
institution. He has accepted a position with the F.H.A.,
and following a trip to northern Wisconsin, the couple
will be at home in Sunset Heights Apartments in

| WESTBY - DANAHER | News of the marriage of Mr. Lester Westby of this city and Miss Hyacinth Danaher of LaCrosse, which took place at Winona Thursday, Jan. 8, was made public last week. After the ceremony they visited the brides mother at Antigo, Wis., returning to this city Tuesday of last week, where they will make their home for the present with the grooms father. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Helen Danaher, a most estimable young lady. She was employed at the local telephone central before going to LaCrosse for similar work. The groom was born and reared in this city. He is an artistic sign painter and in the spring they will move to Mason City where he takes position as sign painter with the Standard Oil Co. Mr. WIDNER, late of Cresco, has been an intimate personal friend of ours for years, and we hazard nothing in saying that he is one of the best men ever permitted to inhabit this rainy world of ours. He has always been considered an incorrigible bachelor but he [illegible] his destiny at last and surrendered without a murmur! Mrs. WIDNER is sister of J.L. CAMERON, of Decorah, and has taught school for years, and is one of the ablest lady newspaper writers in Northern Iowa. | WILKER-PANNCKE | Miss Ella Panncke, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Panncke of Postville, and Arno
Wilker, son of Fred Wilker of Monona, were married last
Thursday morning in St. Paul's Lutheran church in this
city. The Rev. Frederick R. Ludwig officiated at
the service, while Mrs. Ludwig presided at the organ and
played nuptial music. Relatives of the couple
attended the service. The couple were attended by Mr. and
Mrs. Harlan Reinhardt of Luana. The bride was attired in
an aqua dress and her corsage was of red roses. She
is a graduate of Luana high school and has been making
her home in Postville with her parents. Mr. Wilker
was recently discharged from the army after long service
in the Aleutians and the Pacific theaters. They
will make their home for the time being with the bride's
parents in Postville. Ladies of the neighborhood tendered
Mrs. Wilker a shower at the home of Mrs. Clarence Hoth
last Wednesday evening where after the gifts presented to
the bride were opened, cards were played and lunch
served. Those attending this event were Mrs.
Herrmann Schutta, Mrs. Herbert Luhman, Mrs. Frank Severn,
Mrs. Henry Steele, Mrs. Raymond Samek, Mrs. Charles Fay,
Mrs. Lena Schroeder, Mrs. Arthur Erbe, Mrs. Irene
HElgerson, Mrs. Fred Groth, Mrs. Clarence Hoth, Mrs. Fred
Panncke and daughter, Ella. On Friday evening a group of
friends tenered Mr. and Mrs. Wilker a shower at the farm
home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Panncke. Gifts were
presented to the couple and the evening was spent with a
program of pantomime and playing cards. A lunch was
served from baskets of food brought by the guests, who
included Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Thoma and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Lester Hoth and family, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Moon, Mr.
and Mrs. Lee Folsum, Mr. and Mrs. Martin White and
family, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Lenth and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Otto Oldag, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wagner and family,
Mr. and Mrs. Milton Schierhols and family, Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Bruns and Danny, Ora and Oran Dahms, Mr. and Mrs.
Harlan Reinhardt, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Panncke and the

| WILLIAMS - PRESCOTT | DOUBLE WEDDING. Married, at the residence of the bride's parents, in Postville, Iowa, July 16th, 1895, by Rev. J.W. FERNER, of Hampton, Iowa, Charles R. WILLIAMS, merchant, of St. Louis Park, Minn., and son of the late H.B. Williams, of Hesper, Iowa; and Mabel, eldest daughter of A.R. & L.A. Prescott. At home at St. Louis Park, after August 1st. At the same time and place, by the same, John F. Larrabee, of South Portland, Maine, and Matie, sister of Chas. R. Williams, of St. Louis Park, Minn. At home as S. Portland, after Aug. 1st. The guests, numbering about thirty of the nearest relatives of the contracting parties, witnessed the event at 10 a.m. and after a sumptous repast the newly-wed couples took the B.C.R.& N. train for Decorah and Hesper, where with other relatives, a short honeymoon will be spent preparatory to making final homes, as stated above. The presents to the new Mrs. Williams' were numerous and beautiful, and the decorations of the Prescott home were made lovely with flowers from far and near.
