| William McLaughlin
and Honor Gavin were said to have been
married in 1848, the same year he (supposedly)
immigrated. They may have been married in Ireland, aboard
ship, or somewhere in New York. William was a native of
County Mayo, Ireland and Honor might have also been from
there. Honor died at age 35, in 1864. On the right is a photo of Honor (Gavin) McLaughlin's headstone in Dorchester Catholic cemetery. A larger photo of this tombstone & inscription can be viewed at the Iowa Gravestone Photo Project. William married second Margaret Danaher. |
