BAILEY
PLOT & CUMMINGS PLOT CEMETERIES The Bailey Plot is located about 1.5 miles easterly from Road X16 on a road between Forest Mills and Volney, Iowa. The Cummings Plot, so-called because it was established as a burying ground by deed from Patrick Cummings, August 21, 1871 to Franklin Township and for no other purpose. The plot is 10 rods long east and west by 8 rods wide north and south. (Deed recorded September 11, 1871, Book V, page 509.) The tombstone for William White is the only one now visible. Other persons may be buried there and their markers may lie beneath the soil and rocks now surrounding White's tombstone. |
