information or descrepancies. The information on this page has
been contributed by Allamakee County researchers. The intent is
to assist others by alerting them to possible errors, omissions
or descrepancies in the book; as well as providing additional

rather than the full dates. See page 603

Oldag, Mildred A. Kamp (1909-1981)
-notes: Mildred A. Oldag married Emil Kamp. Her maiden
and married name appear to be reversed.
She's listed again with same dates in Postville Area F as
Mildred Kamp.

Palas, Vera M (1890-1968) (Ms.
Arthur J.)
-notes: Vera Palas never married.

Saueressig, Helen
-notes: The obituary spells her name Saueressig rather
than the way the Woodmansee book spells it.
She was a single 25 year old woman who suffered from
epilepsy for 15 years. Therefore the "mother"
remark is probably not correct

-notes: She spelled her first name Dorthea, rather than

-notes: The obituary in the Postville Herald in

Harris, Gerald (NM)

is buried at Minert Cemetery, Post Twp. He is buried in a
family plot with his father George Harris, mother Ella
Laughlin Harris, and brother Rodger Harris. The book has
omitted George, Ella, and Roger from Minert Cemetery and
incorrectly lists Gerald as "Gunhild E.

her obit appeared in the Postville newspaper, but it
clearly states that she was buried in East Clermont

lived only 4 days. Her younger

Schulte, Caroline, birth date given in Woodmansee

Danaher, Margaret, I do have a photo of
Margaret Danaher's tombstone and the dates on it are:
born Feb. 1814 & died June 22,1900. The 1814
doesn't look at all like an 1874, so maybe Mr.Woodmansee
or a helper transcribed it incorrectly from notes. She
was the wife of Thomas Danaher. Also.. Woodmansee
lists a Margaret Danaher: 1851 Apr
27 - 1925 Feb
13 AND a Margaret McLaughlin
(who was a Danaher) 1851 Apr
27 - 1925 Feb 13.
Kathy Maurer, who is descended from Marg. Danaher
McLaughlin pointed out they were one in the same.
One says DR (death record) and the other CR (church
record) so perhaps one identified her with her maiden
name? So I would say they are duplicates.

-notes: This is Mary E. Rose McMillin,
born 27 Aug 1821 and her husband B.T. (Bushrod Taylor)
McMillin according to the 'Mann Family Tree' on

notes: This incorrect, the 1930 census list his age at
101 and the Allamakee Co. Recorder's records has his
birthday listed as 3/15/1829 and death date as 4/21/1931
which is correct. Cause of death is listed as old age and
general disability. Buried in West Ridge Cemetery
4/23/1931. Courthouse also lists Ireland as birth
place.

McNuit, Mary 1832-1870
notes: I believe this is actually Mary McNutt Burke.
There is a family history written by a Sr. Mary Leonard
Burke, R.S.M., granddaughter of Michael Burke and Thomas
Danaher. She was in her 80s when she wrote the
following in the mid-1960s. Her grandfather Michael Burke
is buried in the West Ridge Cemetery, but nothing about
his wife Mary McNutt Burke, who died in 1870. Sr.
Mary Leonard wrote:
"Mary McNutt Burke died of a heart attack March
4, 1870. She had been ill but a few
days. She was conscious and seemingly
knew her death was near. She remained
peaceful and resigned. To her sister-in-law, Ellen Ryan,
she remarked, as if taking some interest in civic
affairs, "This is the date the president takes the
oath of office. She joined those about her in
fervent prayer and told them that death was near for
her. It was. She is buried in the West Ridge
Cemetery. Grandfather had a nice monument erected
for her. At the time of her death she was in her
thirties."
Sister M. Leonard Burke also verified Mary McNutt Burke's
birthdate as 1832, born in Pennsylvania. Mary McNuit
listed by 'Woodmansee' with the dates of 1832-1870 is
very likely Mary McNutt Burke, especially if there is a
nice monument to her, as Sr. Mary Leonard indicated. I
don't have proof, short of examining the monument, but if
anyone reading this can verify or check the cemetery for
a monument please notify me.
