Allamakee county soldiers September 1918 |

| The Democrat presents herewith
another of those treasured group photos of the young men
from Allamakee who are fighting humanity's battles
"over there" or are in training camps preparing
themselves for participation in the great struggle. This
one is of the contingent which departed from Waukon on
September 5th and entered upon their training at Camp
Dodge. We are sure our readers will appreciate it
publication, though we were somewhat delayed in doing so,
and that it will find a place along with the numerous
ones previously published, to be preserved for years to
come as prized souveniers of Allamakee's part in the
great conflict. ~Waukon Democrat, September 25, 1918 Identified in the photo are: George Waters II (10/1/1896
- 03/15/1970), who is front row 3rd from right (where the
X appears in the photo); and Eli Ellis Baily,
who is 3rd from left in the front row of standing
soldiers (identified by his g-daughter Kathleen Hash). If you can ID anyone in the photo, please email the Allamakee co. coordinator so the name can be added. |
