| He was born in
Bloomfield twp., Winneshiek Co. IA August 26, 1883. He
was baptized on May 18, 1884 in St. Paul's Evangelical
Lutheran Church in Postville, Allamakee Co. IA and
confirmed on April 11, 1897. He was united in marriage on October 4, 1901 to Bertha Martens. She was born October 1, 1880 in Germany. Bertha can be found living with Ernest & Augusta Groth on the 1900 census. She is working as a servant, age 18 and single. William & Bertha farmed between Postville and Castalia for many years, and in their retirement years made their home in Castalia, Winneshiek Co. IA. William died June 17, 1957 in the
Postville hospital. Bertha died on January 21,
1973. They are buried in the Postville, IA
cemetery. |

8. Louis Wilhelm Johann Kamp (Fred2Kamp, John Kempke1) |
| He was born January
23, 1885 in Bloomfield twp. Winneshiek Co. Iowa. He
was baptized May 24, 1885 and confirmed March 26, 1899,
at St. Paul's Lutheran church in Postville, Allamakee Co.
IA. He married Caroline Schara in 1908. She was born May 23, 1886, the daughter of Charles Schara & Wilhelmina Sass. Louis & Caroline were 2nd cousins. They farmed in various locations in the area until Louis' untimely death. Only two children are mentioned in Louis' obit, so it is likely that their first-born is the child mentioned in this 1909 newspaper article: "The child of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kempke, which was born, Sept. 22 died Monday Oct. 4th" In 1915 Louis bought the C.F. Reincke farm 'near the junction' for $100 an acre. Louis Kamp died in the 1918 influenza epidemic on November 8, 1918. Caroline was pregnant with their 4th child at the time of his death. Caroline died June 1, 1977. They are buried in the Postville cemetery. Louis Kamp & Caroline

was baptized June 14, 1898 and confirmed March 16, 1913,
at St. Paul's Lutheran church in Postville, Allamakee Co.
IA. She attended a rural school near Postville. Clara was married to Edmund Meyer on January 14, 1919 at Postville. They lived in the Postville and Waukon areas until the early 1950's when they moved to Cedar Rapids. Edmund died November 17, 1965. Clara died August 16, 1983 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Ia. She had been a resident of the Cedar Rapids Care Center for six years preceding her death.
